New At NQEC! Open Space

Join old friends and even make some new ones in NQEC’s Open Space.
Do you have a passion for Continuous Improvement in Education? Do you want an opportunity to discuss and brainstorm that passion with fellow educators from all over the world? NQEC is giving you that opportunity with a new feature called Open Space.

What is Open Space?
Open Space is a place where NQEC attendees can go to discuss an issue or topic of continuous improvement that they have a genuine interest in. This is your chance to be a leader and arrange a quality discussion group.

Where can I arrange my discussion?
There will be one room devoted to Open Space and it will be available throughout the conference.

How do I invite others to join me in a discussion?
Easy, there will be a large sign-up board starting Sunday, November 11. All you need to do is post a topic for discussion, then pick a day and time. After that, all you need to do is wait for others to sign up.

But where do others sign up?
That’s easy too! They write their names on the same sign-up board under the topic they are interested in.

Do I have a limit on how long I can use the Open Space room?
Yes, you have 75 minutes. It is very important to stay within that time, as other attendees may be waiting for the next discussion.

How many people can participate in each discussion?
There will be three round tables with ten chairs at each table. This means there could be 3 different discussion groups going on at a time. Please be respectful of other groups. If your group is large, you may want to reserve the whole room.

What are the principles of Open Space?
Whoever comes is the right person. These are the people who care the most. Whatever happens, happens. Let go of your expectations, and work with whatever unfolds.

So take this great opportunity and run with it. You never know what great ideas, strategies, activities and principles you will gain from this unique experience.
